Serdecznie zapraszamy na wykład Prof. Francesco Sferra (Uniwersytet L'Orientale, Neapol) pod tytułem: "The Selfless Self. A Glimpse into the Buddhist Views of the Ultimate Reality"
Wykład odbędzie się w czwartek, 14 czerwca 2018 w sali nr 4, o godzinie 12:00
Inthe light of some relevant passages of the Indian Buddhist literature (Pāli canon, Mahāyāna sūtras, tantric and philosophical works), which will be read in translation and commented on in detail, during the lecture the Buddhist view of the Self will be studied and analyzed in its main lines of development. The critique of the Brahmanic Self (ātman) is part of a vast project of renewal of the religious and philosophical language, and of the way of describing human experience. In an attempt to underline the dynamism of Being, scholastic reflection focuses, perhaps for the first time in such a systematic way, on the description of the functions of the human mind, rather than on the description of the qualities of Being. The result is a complex, varied and sometimes contradictory vision (consider for instance the Buddhist heterodox theory of the Person, pudgala), which concerns both the ultimate reality and the one most immediately connected with the experience of each individual, and which presents remarkable points of contact with modern psychology.
